| If the fuel filter and air filter are fresh, have the coil packs checked. Also clean the MAF sensor with proper cleaner. If that doesn't help, it could be an electrical issue, like a short. Have you had any work done to the wiring? Any modification to the car? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| What code is stored in the PCM?
That code(s) could be a great help in determining the issue. | |

| Sounds like what my '95 went through at 85K miles. It wouldn't show a code until it had died many times. Symptoms were similar to yours. I replaced the crank sensor, but it didn't help. Finally it did leave an error code, one of which was crank or cam sensor and the other low voltage. I then replaced the cam sensor, which helped for 4 days, or about 500 miles. Then it happened again, only the low voltage code came up. I had the alternator checked at Autozone and they said it was OK, so I cleared the codes and drove it about another week, then it repeated the low voltage code and stalling episode. I replaced the alternator with a new unit and end of problems. I have put about 10k miles on it since. My guess was that the alternator was grounding out completely intermittently. A bad regulator can do that. | |
