| I just bought a beautiful white 98 riv today and am excited to see such an enthusiastic following! You all have been a wealth of knowledge and I haven't stopped reading for the last 5 hours! I'm in Wyoming but go to Idaho and Montana a lot so if anyone is from around there we could do some cruising! Thanks for making such a fantastic resource on Rivieras and I am excited to join! Hope to talk to ya'll sometime! Joey | |

| Yesterday afternoon after I had bought this car I ended up using my AAA for the first time turns out they sold it to me with a bad alternator! I also have a trouble code and the dealer "explained" it to me. Would a car run perfectly with a camshaft position sensor missing it's magnet? I really don't think so but anyways the trouble code is a bad camshaft position sensor, how difficult are those to change? Also does anyone have any experience changing the camshaft interrupter? I can deal with a cam sensor and a bad alternator for 76k miles, 10/10 condition for 3200... | |

| Welcome to the site! Fix that alternator and CPS and you'll love this car!
There's plenty of info here for the CPS (see aaron's post above).
Enjoy! | |

| Planning on modding? hell yes i am! I just toasted my coworkers 07 charger sxt tonight in a 0-90ish. That heavy ass charger couldn't touch my nimble rivie! I fixed the alternator today. and our batteries are huge.. 890cca.. incredible. Anyways alternator was cake, when the snow stops and its above 30 degrees out I'll do the cam sensor, I hope it's the sensor and not the interrupter! Anyways first mod is going to be a FWI. After I pay taxes, insurance, and registrations/license plates I'll plan my mod budget. BTW do we lose torque doing headers and a 3inch down pipe? Thanks for the warm welcome! | |

| Thats what i like to hear! No loss in torque with headers. Forced induction is great ain't it? if any torque is lost, its probably not noticeable because we make so much anyway ( especially when you start dropping pulley sizes. I assume you know about KR and that right ? Good kill with the charger too. a few mods and you should be pulling on Hemi chargers. | |
