My custom 4" Intake Empty
PostSubject: My custom 4" Intake   My custom 4" Intake EmptyWed Apr 16, 2008 9:55 pm

I know its a Monte, but this would be a great addition for any of you riv guys.

I made this Intake one night over at cottons when I got bored with my gutted air box. It consists of the following pieces:
Vibrant Polished 4" Aluminum Elbow
Vibrant Double Walled Silicone Coupler (3.5-4")
Vibrant T-Clamps
Silicone walled 4" Tubing (similar to the intense stuff, a little bit thicker and smoother)
9" K&N Air Filter

My custom 4" Intake Upper
My custom 4" Intake Filter2
My custom 4" Intake Filter

...the setup realy works awsome. One night on a 37* evening, my IAT was only showing 42* at crusing operating temp, and dropped to as low as 40* if i was really ripping.

If anyone locally has a riv and would like me to make a nice setup like this maybe there would be some market for them on the boards.

What would you call this, a FWI? Or is in the fenderwell? I can't tell.

It sits the 9" filter WAY down in the fender well by the bumper. It places the filter a little lower than the intense/ speedbuilt fwi.

Setup is awsome imo.

Very cool. I have a similar set-up, but it's higher up in the fenderwell. At cruise, my IAT is always at or below ambient temp. I've actually seen it go -10º below ambient in the winter.

I'll try to get some pics up. I converted to 4" after seeing Brandon's.
