the rivs going to the shop Empty
PostSubject: the rivs going to the shop   the rivs going to the shop EmptyMon Jul 28, 2008 11:57 am

and it started yesterday i went to the gas station and i noticed right away that when shifting into the 3rd the tranny would slowing slip into gear. I figured i was low on fluid so i went to autozone and got the Dexron 4 with the III requirements(yeah yeah)and headed home. i kepted her running and had the mother that happen to be around hold the brake in neutral. i filled it up and let it sit for a couple and went and drove it around...a few good shifts later low and behold its fixed yes!

no...it just happen to be my radiator decided to blow and leak some coolant, by the time i got back it was still at normal temperature which is 200-215. i gotta call the shop and get this car tuned up. shocks, struts, front end, plugs, wires. the whole sheebang and my bro ordered me some trims locks which are 2-3 bucks im alost positive thats what he said, there are 8 all together. im thinking she needs to go into a body shop soon, her front bumper cover is cracked in to front bad(not from me) and missing the emblem. also the chrome trim on the driver side of the door dipping into the front fender is cleary beat up from the crash my poor car was in back in her earlier years.

long story short my father got the riv from the junkyard with a salvage title and fixed the front cover, both side fenders and had it painted champagne. also not the mention if look you see the asshole who painted it decied not to just paint the back of the car too, 14 feet of paint on the car come on now the car is two different colors now. i plan on painting it either black or the good old sterling silver metallic paint(silver arrow color.)

gotta get a chrome trim for the driver side door and get a good front bumper cover in due time.

sorry for the rant, it was neccessary cheers

I hear that, i just baught mine a few months ago for a preaty good price, i happened to get the oil changed within the first week of owning it and had to replace both front sway-bar links, and the rear shocks are leaking so i have to get alot of things fixed up too, im also showing rust and corrosion in thecommon areas like the hood near the grille, and the small space at the edges of the rear licence plate close to the bumper, Sucks but when you get a used car, and you care more for its function and quality than the original owner, you get stuck making up for there procrastination and lack of respect for their vehicle.

I don't get that line at all. Does your mechanic not know how to gap plugs?? Might want to go see someone else.

Most shops will want to do things to OEM specs, unless you can convince them otherwise. Solution: change your own plugs, it ain't that hard.

amen to that. when i first saw my car it was damn near gray becuase it had sat for almost 6 months undriven and dirty. it literally took about 4 washes to get most of the dirt and crud off it. it was like he just said fuck it to the car.

The stock gap is .060", but .058" works, and the gap will last longer. For AL104s, the gapping is the same. No difference between the OEM and AL104s accept for the insulator, which has no effect on the gap.

Sure. They look the same, fit the same, and they gap the same. They even spark the same. Here's the difference:

Decent for performance, but they don't last forever. Autolites are inexpensive plugs that are very reliable for about 20k miles.

The OEM Iridium plugs will last ~100,000 miles. For normal driving they will perform fine. They will cost you $7 to $10 per plug.
