Hey SilveR! Welcome to the family! You'll have to post some pics for us in the showroom. I bet a Rivi in Moscow is rare.

16 is the average age for most states to get a licence in the U.S. You can get a learner's permit at 15 1/2 in Oklahoma. I think that's true for most states also.

Thank you for hearty welcome! Rare? It’s not the word … very rare. cool The pics will come soon, at the moment the weather is wet, and my Riv is like piggy. But nothing special, just ’97 Riviera, all stock exc painted side-moldings

Yeah. Later I will tell your about "Customs payments" in Russia and prices. Just for begining: I paid 12k$ for my Riv. Without SC ... not in "mint condition" bonk and i bought it in Moscow, not in US+shipping smile

welcome! glad to see this site is going global smile
the driving age, unfortunatly, is 16 in the US but the drinking age is 21, it's backwards if you ask me.
so how much would it be to have a s/c imported? shipping would likely be more than the s/c lol

The problem is not in shipping only, it will cost you 1…2k$ only (depends on port of loading and freight charges)

The main puzzle is the custom clearance … In Russia you have to pay according to engines volume and age of car.
Customs rate:
*
For cars age 3-7 years with engine 2.000-2.500cc = 1,75 EUR / 1cc
For cars age 3-7 years with engine 2.500-3.000cc = 2,00 EUR / 1cc
For cars age 3-7 years with engine upwards of 3.000cc = 2,25 EUR / 1cc
*
For cars upwards of age 7 with engine 2.000-2.500cc = 2,00 EUR / 1cc
For cars upwards of age 7 with engine 2.500-3.000cc = 2,25 EUR / 1cc
For cars upwards of age 7 with engine upwards of 3.000cc = 3,00 EUR / 1cc

The latest Riviera it is over 3.000cc and over 7 years old. Customs rate for such kind of cars will be about 11.400 EUR (abt 15.000 USD)

15k$ for custom evil + 1…2k$ for shipping + somewhat for Riviera in US + a bit of brides …

That is the reason why I’ve bought my Riv second-hand (the first owner bought it brand-new 10 years ago, before 1998 in Russia was another customs rate – he paid just Rivs cost + 6k$ for all)
My Riv costs me 12k$ … it has a perfect condition body, engine and trans, a few problems with interior and some serious troubles with suspension (mostly rear)
Could you imagine 10 years Riviera without ANY service (only oil, pads and so on)???

Ufff … oops sorry for long-drawn story.

Supercharged or naturally … it’s not the first and foremost as you can see now wink

How rare is that Riviera? Have you ever even seen another late model riviera on the roads over there?

Must be nice to have such a rare car.

40-50 Rivs of about 3.5 mln cars in Moscow ... or may be less smile

When I visited car-wash, the man said "wow, whats this" I answered Buick Riviera and he went out. Than he come back and told me "I'm sorry but your car doesn't exist in our catalog, we cant count how much should you pay for wash" and I answered "OK, if you cant find the car - it will be free of charge" smile)))

always in the centre of attention smile

Nice! Do you have a Riv club over there? How many of that number are '95-'99 models?

Car washes metered by car make/model... that's funny. Never heard of such a thing!

Special club for Rviera? happy Oh no. 40-50 Rivs it is about the latest Riv only.
BUT this data from our "police department" and this is only figures ... I NEVER saw more than one Riv in one place, even in tech-zone happy

About club. We have a lot of different, and all about US-cars. Muscle-cars club, mustang club, taurus club smile and some more big, common clubs. I'm from one of them wink

About car wash. They (my nearest wash) have a table with several types of car. In some words: big SUV - one price, van - another, luxury, medium, small ... But Riviera is out of table

Russia is on the euro?

Welcome aboard! What kind of suspension problems are you having in the back? Time for shocks to be replaced, or is the air ride acting up?

If it's just shocks, they aren't hard to change or very expensive.
