| I really want to use HP tuners being thats what i already have. HP as you know does not support 96 tried it. Other than 2 wires on C1 and 8 wires in C2 (PCM pinout) all them bieng transmission circuits which the 96 rivs does not have, everything eles is the same . My question is Anyone out there done this? would hate to plug it in and smoke something. OH and yeah my SES light might come on because of the missing trans sensors but who cares. | |

| Oldsman105 has done it , but he also updated the transmission too so idk. Since the trans is mostly vacuum controlled , i think you'd be fine on that. As far the SES lights , if its anything like DHP , you can tune out SES codes. | |

| I gave olds a hand with the swap. It's cake. And sets you up in case you want to change the trans in the future.
Easy way would be to get a bin from something like a 97 bonne NA for most of the trans parameters, then tweak the shift speed and pulses per mile. | |

| You should be able to have anyone with a DHP reprogram either a 96 or 97 for you. | |

| So a ebay '97 pcm would work in '96, if extra wires are just not hooked up and codes removed with Hptuner? Any problem from anti-theft? I have a friend that wanted to go 50/50 on hptuner till we found it would not work on '96 | |

| Update, 97 PCM idea in a 96. Well I did try it and plug it in, everything worked fine...... untill i drove it, only first and second gear. so without maybe piggy backing PCMs or swapping transmissions wont work. Im sure someone already knew that, im so hard headed. My HP tuners sucked the tune out but no good with only two gears. Okay the good news.. our new employee has TUNER CAT i bought a credit and BAM!! 1996 RIV now being tuned. will report my progress, also now installing my 3.10 pulley (Currently have 3.4) and a meth kit. Great right? Granny Riv with a blower,Nitrous, and Meth.. | |
