I picked up a 2001 bonneville SSEI from craigslist for $1000 with a slipping trans.

Any wetness under the car is trans fluid










For anyone that doesn't know, that's a differential output cover. And here's why it's leaking so badly.. big crack

A couple hours later, a spare diff that I had laying around along with a differential cover borrowed off my buddies transmission with permission and then a trans service .....WTF it was still leaking. Trans dipstick tube was rusted and had a hole. Walk over to the side of the garage and grabbed a w body tube for his second mod of the evening.

At this point things are all good overall. There is some internal damage, it seems minimal and in the differential area and ring gear. He mentioned it wouldn't go into 4th gear, probably a bad 4th gear output shaft. It'll need to be rebuilt and he has his old trans as a parts donor or spare. What we do know for sure is it's no longer leaking, running as well as a $1000 car can run.

It got the PDM seal of approval by the Dino himself

Car made it home after some quick repair work.

Dealer sticker will be removed soon, Also there is a scuff on the passenger door that will be repainted after I secure a new transmission for my car.

Maybe if one was handed to him, but other than that he said that he enjoys his 4 doors too much!

Bad ass car. I just sold my 2000 SLE on craigslist a few months ago to go back to the Riviera. I got $4000 for it. Shouldve asked for more....

you know what really sets the appearance of the Bonneville off is when you clear the headlights and the taillights. It looks like the GXP Bonneville when you do that. Its just a pain doing them. It took me about 4 hours to complete the headlights because they had to be heated in the oven and the adhesive scraped off, reflector removed, and the interior components separated. There were like 4 parts inside the light itself. But, once you reseal them, its looks VERY nice and is a head turner.
