| Hey, were they using the same shift knob the 8th gen car got back in '92? I wonder how old that knob is, and how many cars it was used in?
Also, is that nutcracker stock issue? It's wearing the big "R" like it is, but I thought they were illegal on street vehicles.

| In my neck of the woods we call the steering wheel knobs "suicide" knobs. I think they're still illegal but rarely enforced. I attached it low on the steering wheel just to be safe. I found it on Ebay awhile back. The shift knob is original in my 92 Riv. Consoles are identical for 86-89 and then changed for 90-93. So I'm guessing the shift knob installed in my 92 was in production at least as far back as 1990. | |

| Here it is again in a 91 Camaro! Known uses so far - 7th and 8th gen Riviera Reatta 3rd and 4th gen Camaro Is it just me or is that a slightly excessive use of the parts bin? | |

| I see the shifter in a lot of cars... it sure is a comfortable knob though.
By the way, is that a 2002 Riviera? No way in hell it's 17 years old. Nice job keeping it mint!

| Nice car Dave! I owned a '90 years ago. Silver with Dove Grey leather interior, no vinyl top. I loved that car. My neighbor used to kid me that I was going to polish the paint off of it. | |

I got it in my '88 rivi as well. Not sure if mine is 7th gen or not. But it is earlier then the '91 camaro and '92 rivi so w/e. it is a comfortable shifter though.

| That is one beautiful vehicle. I see a few of these around where I live, but when I see them, they're almost always scratched to hell or nice and dirty.
Seeing one so pristine almost makes me want to buy one. Awesome car!

| Wow! I can't believe the shape of that car! It's amazing what cars can look like when people take care of them. Oh and the Lesabre, Century, and Electra T-types had those shifters as well. They've been around! Oh I forgot one - the Regal GS's before '97. Here it is in my Lesabre T-type: | |

| Subject: My '92 on the ROA Website Thu Jul 29, 2010 3:52 am | |
| A day ago I went onto the ROA website (rivowners.org) to look at pictures taken of the 2010 ROA meet in Harrisburg. Much to my surprise and delight my '92 Midnight Blue Riv is pictured at the bottom right hand side of the website's home page!
I took the Riv to a 400pt judged show in RI this past weekend. I received first place @ 395 pts..boy was I surprised! The 5 pt deduction was due to me forgetting to replace my chrome Buick Tri-shield tire valve caps with factory correct ones (1 pt deducted for each) and forgetting to remove the "suicide" knob from my steering wheel (1 pt).
