| it is electronicly governed at 108 by the pcm. the car can go much faster than that, it is very aerodynamic and has plenty of power to got at least 140 with proper tires. your speedo may read 106 b/c at those speeds it is less accurate and even different air pressure/wheels/tires can make it change. btw, the stock tires are rated S which is for sustained speeds of 112mph, if you want to go faster you will need BOTH better tires and a reporgramed pcm without a higher set sepped limiter. also, aftermarket tires that have different than 26.62in tires (total outside diamiter) will give an incorect reading to the speedo so you will need to have that adjusted or calibrated. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Fresh suspension parts also wouldn't hurt. This car gets floaty over bumps at high speeds with the OEM suspension. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| To get it to go faster, you need a reprogrammed PCM. To get it to go faster safely requires a bit more. I've never been above 130 personally. There's no where around here to go any faster. She felt good at that speed, though. I need to go out west. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| This is a very interesting post. Living here on a small, crowded island, we have no place where one can reasonably... much less safely... drive a car at speeds over 70. What the hell... our legislature recently passed an excessive speeding law, which, in a nutshell, says that... if you get caught going 30 mph over the speed limit, or a minimum of 80 mph on our freeways, you'll get fined a big chunk of change- $300+. Subsequent infractions will get your butt tossed in jail... do not pass go, and forget about hoping for your lawyer to make sure you're resting your head on your own pillow that night... your ass goes to the pokey... period! ...but it has been my fantasy dream that GM had offered the Northstar V-8, with 18" rims and tires, and an appropriate tuned suspension for these 9th Edition Rivieras... would've been one hellava ride... IMO... | |
