| alright what do you guys think about this idea:
- supercharged srt4 engine in a Rivy -
or
- putting a v6 mustang motor in there -
idk if teh mustang engine would fit but it would give me a wider variety of performance parts
lmk wht you guys think....
cause im not paying someone 2,800 just to repair that headache they call an engine

| I promise you won't have an easy or cheap time trying either of those engine swaps. The GM 3800 is a strong reliable engine if it's properly maintained. They are not expensive from a salvage yard, normally. | |

| That junky 3.8 in the Junkstang is so underpowered, it's only 190 hp but it's even weaker. You'd need a new tranny too, and it wouldn't be worth it. The car is made for the GM 3800, drop another in it or get rid of it. You'll only make the car trash if you go dropping those motors in it. Any power given from an SRT turbo motor (Don't know if you meant turbo as it comes or actually supercharging the same motor - I don't think hardly anyone has done this, it's fast with the turbo and built for it so no reason to S/C it instead) would be lost because the car is heavier than the SRT4 Neon.
Really, the only thing worth dropping in is the 5.3 as Matt suggested. Otherwise just drop another 3800 in, if you don't think it has enough performance options you're not looking hard enough.

| No, you would have to get one from an Impala SS, Monte Carlo SS, Grand Prix GXP, or LaCrosse Super. The 5.3 from the Tahoe will not work in a FWD application. | |

| But honestly it would still be too much work anyways. Just go for a 3800. | |

| The 3800 is IMO one of the most reliable engines ever built. I'm assuming you have a '95, therefore a Series I engine. If you really want some more performance, get a later model Series II 3800, there are plenty of perf. parts available for it and the swap will be much much easier. You'll probably want the newer transmission to go with it... and a performance rebuild on that. | |

| Then why do you want a totally different motor? Its a very cost effective motor to mod. | |

| Or just replace with a used one. The 3800 SII is very reliable, a 60K used motor will probably last another 10 years easy, even modded. What performance parts are hard to get for the SII? What do you want? Heads? Pistons? Cams? It's all available... | |

| why would you ever ditch the 3800 series?!? These motors have everything going for them. Srt-4 motors are complete crap, so are the mustang 3.8's they have nothing going for them at all. | |
