| hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a while, been really busy with work and what not. But i noticed this a few months back, and it stopped, but started up again the other day. Lately, whenever I put my car in park, the rpm drops down to like 200-300 almost stalls out, jumps back up to around 800 or so, drops back down to 300, then it'll idle normally.. it's stalled out a couple of times like that, I had this problem on an older car, and it ended up being a bad wiring harness, but any suggestions would be awesome. | |

| That's odd... I have the same problem, though mine only dips down a couple hundred from norm. Started when I changed my idle RPM values in the PCM, so thought that was it. I really don't know what is causing it. Anyone else have this happen? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| How many miles on the car? When's the last time you changed plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

Dang, You think! Thought you sold your ride. I'd start with plugs, plug wires and fuel filter. That should eliminate a big part of the problem. I'd SeaFoam your car too. It made a huge difference on the way my riv performed.

i have a similar problem. Mine has stalled once or tiwce now while going from reverse to drive for no appearent reason. It was warmed up and everything. It has 157k mi on it so I kind of expect that. Everything seems ok on the engine. The wires have been replaced with bosch at some point before I owned it. I hope this small problem is reduced when I replace the spark plugs and do a motorvac on it.

| dirty IAC?? cleaning the intake and using sea foam is always a good maint/fix for hessitation. do you ever get a CEL when it stalls? mine would sometimes stall b/c of my bad CKP sensor (crankshaft positon) but i would also get a trac off light and other things would go wrong. i replaced it a month or 2 ago and its been fixed since. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. mine would sometimes stall b/c of my bad CKP sensor (crankshaft positon) but i would also get a trac off light and other things would go wrong. i replaced it a month or 2 ago and its been fixed since. my MIL is always on because of my cam sensor (could that have caused it?) And my "T/C off" light will come on about 50% of the time i drive it for some reason. And I can't turn it back on with the button when this happens. Anyway that's not something I particularly care about. The motorvac i'm doing is basically the same this as the seafoam treatment. The solution is just a little bit more potent. | |

| nope, no CEL, it just happens but yeah, definitely going to seafoam it, and change plugs and what not, i'm sure it's been quite some time lol I drove it earlier, and it only seems to happen when I put it in park after driving for a bit | |

| I hate to tell you to throw money at your car but, what about the coil packs? Coil packs can get flaky. I solved a 'shakey' idle with a new set of coil packs. | |

| When it's cold I have the same problem with my Jeep, but sometimes it'll die when I'm driving and let off the gas. I thought it was the injectors, but it's been warmer here so it doesn't do it anymore and I don't worry about it. | |

I agree w/ him. One of mine went at 135K and the other two probably need replacement too. Online they are only about 50 or 60 bucks plus shipping, so 3 could get pricey. You could try this as step 2 if the cheaper methods don't work. But they are about the easiest part to replace ever.

| Does seafoam get put in before the MAF/IAC sensor? Pretty sure it doesnt, which means you have to clean that yourself. | |

| you gota clean the front of the butterfly in the TB too. the sea foam is great, but you still need to pick up a can of TB cleaner and soak that intake down!!! pull the MAF and IAC and do those seperatly. the STP TB cleaner will not harm 02 sensors. so spray away. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | Be sure to check out the thread for SeaFoam. It's a lil scary first time you do it. Your car will smoke like something out of a Cheech and Chong movie, but nothin' to worry about. It's fairly easy to reach the plug wires too, so don't pay anyone to do it. Hell, if I can do it, anyone can. | |

| She'll only smoke for a few minutes. Hemp odors not included. no worries with the law. Plugs are pre-gapped but I would definately check them. Gap tool is like a buck at AutoZone. | |
