The mold will be made in three pieces so when the fiberglass is applied in the mold, then cures, the mold will be able to be taken apart and removed from the fiberglass part (bumper). Otherwise the fiberglass would have to be applied thin to be flexible enough to be removed from the mold. A multi-piece mold allows for a thicker stronger part to be made.
I don't know if that made any sense. I promise it will make more sense further in the process. I will post pics and explain along the way.

The crash beam is about the same distance away from the bumper cover as stock as it is being moved as well. The bracket will be shortened to pull the beam closer to the spare tire well.
The front bumper is in the same state as the rear.

These things are hand made and top notch quality. It would probably be a different story if there were going to be several hundred bumpers made. I would put the quality of these up against anything mass produced.
I wish my bumpers only cost $600ea. Keep in mind the setup, fit, design, and molds, are already paid for and finished $$$$$$$$. Now all anyone has to pay for is the labor and materials for the fiberglass bumpers themselves.

That price doesn't sound like a lot to me. I've had much smaller fiberglass things repaired and not painted before and was charged an arm and a leg. This is reasonable considering all the work involved in making them.

i agree beautiful work! $600 sounds like allot to me in the sense that i don't have that much to spend right now. will you be offering the bumper in different phases of completion so as to allow the buyer on his end to finish the work? such as fiberglass minus sanding,or none gel coated,or primed. the reason i ask is because i moonlight at a body shop with a old school body guy who is retired and allows me to use the shop and materials for my projects. i hate to sound like a cheap bugger but i thought id ask

What's his email address. If it's listed here, I missed it. Thanks.

$600 per bumper. The front is the same as the rear. As far as the ownership of the molds. We haven't really discussed it. In the end I am not making anything on any future parts and he will be making them so it doesn't really matter to me who "owns" the mold......as long as he hooks me up if I ever need to replace one.

A couple more shots.
Here is the center section of the mold. Notice the "plug" for the bumper mold in the background leaning against the 40' willys body mold.
The holes in the flange are for bolting the three pieces of the mold together.
The left section.
The right section.
Next is laying fiberglass in the mold and actually making a part (bumper).
