| Ok this is a lead off my other thread about replacing my LIM gasket. Different problem has now arisen Yesterday the car ran good and strong after getting the car back together. Today on my way to work the car did not run right at all. got a flashing SES light and the car had a cylinder 6 misfire (P0306). Also had a P1200 code (injector circuit) so since that is the same injector i broke the metal clip on the connector i assumed that was not making good contact with the injector. i fiddled around with that clip and could not get that cylinder to fire right. went out and bought a NEW EV1 connector from napa and spliced it into the wire harness. The connector has power to it (constant 12v), but that cylinder is dead. the car runs exactly the same with the clip in and out. did i kill my injector somehow? what else could it be? plug is good, wire seems fine. Is there any way to test the injector without pulling the fuel rail and swapping it to a different cylinder? This weekend has been a repair nightmare! | I think it's obvious the injector didn't fail on its own. Breaking the clip during the LIM repair is likely causing the injector to malfunction, so now we need to figure out if it's the injector, the clip, or the wiring.
You say the connector has constant 12v. Is this the case with all the other connectors? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| The injector connector, and the injector, should have a constant 12v. It is the PCM - through inputs from the ICM - that provide the pulsed ground to the injector for Pulse Width Modulation. (PWM) Need to check the ground while running for a pulsing ground circuit. A noid lite works good for this.

| well i swapped out the #6 injector with the # 3 injector to see if the misfire moved. It did not change. changed the plug and wire for shits and giggles and no change. I need to cut into the wire harness further to get more wire access to see if i'm not making good connection. Can anyone verify which wire goes to which side of the connector? _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | buy or rent a node light from auto store. it will show you if the problem is electrical. although it sounds like it is. the light should blink if the injectors are fine. if it doest blink on #6, you know its electrical. | |

| have you checked to make sure #6 is getting spark from the ignition module? | |

| think it's the coil. i swapped it over and the misfire followed. Hope the problem is solved. awful odd coincidence it went bad the day after a lim gasket repair and P&P blower install :/ _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. I drive my car every day and never have any major issues. I don't think the parts are very different between the '96 and '98, besides the transmission. Maybe QC improved during those years? Good news that you found your problem, good idea moving coils around. They are certainly easy enough to replace! | |
