Busted TB Empty
PostSubject: Busted TB   Busted TB EmptyTue Dec 22, 2009 10:14 pm

Well guys, it seems my throttle body is broke. It has a small crack in it and it leaks fluid everywhere. I also think i got coolent in the s/c and in the cylinders. What cars share the same throttle body on the series one supercharged. Should i go to gm and buy a new one or should i risk going to a junkyard and getting one? anybody know where i can get one. I dont know what happened, but when i was taking it off it made a pop when i broke the bolt loose but i dunno if that was it. this is just my luck! also anybody know the part number for the tb series I? are they different for the series II

You will need to check me on this because I am *not* sure -- but -- the other SC 3800 cars GM made at the time should use the same TB:

Park Avenue Ultra
Bonneville SSE
Olds 88 Royale LSS
Olds 98 Regency Elite

GM PNs for the S-one TB service kits:

24501537 is complete body with sensors (MAF, TPS, etc) and misc. hardware [appears to be available for $500 from Monster but you need to ask];

12537403 is the attachment kit (basically this is the misc. hardware only - also went by Delco #217-1407) [available AFAIK for like $6.00 only];

17112649 is the idle air control valve (also goes by Delco #217-422)[available for around $100]

Well to answer your question, i have no real idea how my TB was cracked. I know it took me great difficulty and a cheater bar to break loose one of the bolts (the crack encompasses one of these bolts) and made a loud pop when i broke it free. I thought i had actually broke the head off the bolt. To be honest i dont see how this could have cracked it but i could be wrong. Also the TB was so gummed up and there was crap in the coolant space that it could have bbe cracked before but all this stuuf help seal it. Ive found at TB on ebay so we shall see if this fixes my original problem,
