| Looks damn good in the pics...congratulations. I am curious as to why you didn't go ahead and paint the bottom black and then you wouldn't have to deal with matching paints. Right? | |

Im still doing black but it will be done by a pro, i just got sick of the rust, plus... A few rattle cans and sandpaper: less than $40 Bottom half painted professionally: way more than $100 Now the money for a pro spray job can go into the engine for now, seemed like a good idea to me...

| Looks great Tyler, its tuff to tell that its not the same color in those pics. If I were you, I would get rid of those rusty rubber door trim pieces that run along the bottom. My Dad has a PA, and when we painted it we chucked them, they hold so much moisture. | |

Yea i have to check the JY when i get some time, maybe this saturday. What i realized on my car was not so much the moisture they hold, but the cheap screws they used to fasten them to the door. All of the major rust spots that were coming up the doors were directly in-line with a screw on the other side, the rust that was coming up the fender in front of the door stemmed from the screw that holds the long plastic piece that runs the length of the side. You can also see on the inside of the rubber pieces at the bottom of the door that they are only rusted around the screw hole, while dead center between two screw holes is still black. I will be replacing those screws with new ones when i find new lower door pieces lol. - robotennis61 wrote:

Nope no bondo lol, just sanded the rust off and a bit of the paint and did the best i could blending the two different paint colors.

| Very nice. I suppose it doesn't much matter since you're going to paint the bottom back, but if trying to match the silver paint, I think taking the new paint up to the bumper molding would help hide the slight color change. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

I was kind of thinking the same thing but after i layed the paint im happy with how it turned out. That and it was also kind of fun and different painting freestyle without masking anything off.

| I have some more pictures ill post up in a bit, i walked around my car for about a half hour looking at it from all different angles when i was done. Its a very un-noticeable change at certain angles, but with the right angle and light i cant get enough of it. I think its starting to grow on me a bit now. | |

I would have to agree that the black trim definitely suites the way you've got the PA customized. Looks really nice .
