| Well, that sucks. Mitchell apparently doesn't have the vacuum diagrams for a '95. It says "Vacuum diagrams not supplied by the manufacturer". Bastards....... I tried. I'll keep lookin though. | |

| Why do you need diagram? I know there are more lines on the '95 than on my '98 - but there are not that many in either case.
Here is what I mean. If someone else messed up the vac line routing, you probably really need a diagram, or even another car with the lines routed right, to get yours right.
If however you are just say replacing all the vac lines for maintenance, a work around is to go to the auto parts store (preferably with a deep stock of general car hardware - in my area that's the local NAPA or the Advance at the county seat that sells into mecanics that maintain motor pools). At the store tell the counter person you want to redo all your vacuum lines and could he/she come out to the car and have a look to see what sizes you need. On a '98, a foot or 2 in 3 sizes (1/8, 3/16, and 5/32 or some such, I forget which ones actually), an 'assortment' of vac caps and another assortment of fittings (tees and adapters from one size to another) off the "HELP" rack was all that was needed. I did this last year and I don't think I spent $20.-
If you are having a problem with a specific hose you found hanging or some such, why not post a snapshot? Even if it is a fiting with no hose on it at all, another member with the same car will probably quickly chime in and tell you where it goes and what-not. Even though they don't have the diagram either.
I mean, i am not berating you for asking for a diagram, just trying to encourage you to ask more directly for what you need to solve a problem -- look at it this way it's not in Mitchell's either. The mechanics are working around this problem and so can you.

| I was going to shotgun all my vac lines as they appear original and all the rubber fittings are getting pretty baked out. I was really just hoping that a vac diagram would include proper diameters so I don't have to get out the calipers.
I'll take your advice though and just go get an assortment of lines and fittings this weekend and make it work.

| Got it.
Yeah, the thing that blew my mind, a bit, was when soneone suggested teh same to me. I went to the local CarQuest and asked the counter guy. He went out, I pulled of the SC cover, he looked around a little, pulled a few lines to look at the inside diameters, then walked into the store and peeled off a couple feet of a few diameters of tubing each. Then we went to the HELP section and got a pack of caps and a pack of fittings (it had T, H, I and line-to-line adapters for different diameters. About $20 later, I roll home and change out all the vac lines that evening. It went *quick.* Including wasting some time looking around to find a half-spent tube of Goop to glue new pieces to duplicate this one funky molded line that had an adapter on one end. I remember muttering to myself that the Riv is really a ground-bound helicopter (collection of spare parts that work by beating against each other spec'd and assembled by the low bidder) and there was no reason for the two parts to have different size nipples except that it saved some yawning CAD drafter from revising one or the other part. Then I realized that it ws a very reasonable engineering solution to hitting a function point within a reasonable cost constraint, and I quit muttering.
Really it would not be unreasonable or unwelcome for you to do the same - the folks that sell the stuff for a living will be able to very quickly match it up by eyeballing the IDs and nipples. The guy that sold me the vac hose I used nailed it pretty good.

Albertj You found a competent, English-speaking person at CarQuest??? Submit him for sainthood! some carquest are franchises and others are company stores or large jobbers with several stores... and the counterpeople vary. Most of the car parts counterpeople around here are decent - in descending order I'd put 'em as NAPA, CarQuest or AutoValue, Advance or Fred's, then AutoZzzzone. The local AutoZone has, however, started a "commercial desk" and put some pretty good people on it, including an ex-Marine maintenance specialist. They will eventually (but not immediately) give NAPA a run for their money (the local NAPA is **very** good but kinda pricey & keeps banker's hours). Albertj
