Hey everyone, been checking out your sight and finally joined. I have loved Riv's since I was a kid. I just finished putting together a '95 sc for my 17 year old son and he is in love. I haven't done any engine mods( it is fast enough for a new driver) , but just a few mild custom touches to the body. I will post pics when I learn how. I think it came out really slick. I hope you guys like it. The car was virtually rust free and the interior was incredible for a car with 168,000 miles. Original paint was peeling all over. We removed all trim and windows and stripped to bare metal. Epoxy primed and then 3 coats of 2k urethane primer.Block sanded car straight and painted base/clear urethane. Body is original bright white. roof is black and all lowers were smoothed and painted bright white. Also shaved trunk lock and removed all emblems for now. We left the grille emblem but stuck it back further in the grille. I thought it looked gaudy before( hope that doesn't offend anyone). Well thanks for letting me join your forum and I look forward to participating in discussions.

Hey Robotennis61 thanks for the reply. I used BASF diamont basecoat and Upol clear. I own a collision shop and that is the paint system I use. Paint went on really good. Any of the basecoat systems are good. But Upol clear is a hi quality product without the expense of the major brands. My supplier gave me all the materials for this car, but Upol is really user friendly and results are as good as major brands. Gallon of clear and Quart of hardener is around $75.00 if you have to buy it.

Sounds like it looks really slick! The '95 was a great 1st car for me and with the nice bodywork your son will appreciate it even more.

Hopefully I will take some pics this weekend, weather permitting. Then I will have my kids help me post them as I am "computer special".I remember when I was a kid and my father couldn't program the vcr, now I know the feeling.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I may need help posting pictures when I take them. If anyone has any body or collision questions i'd be glad to help. I've had my own collision shop for 27 years and been doing body and paint since I was 12. My first advice is preparation. Everything done before the paint is applied is key. The best painter can't lay down a good job if the car isn't prepped properly. Lack of patience is the is the main reason for a job not well done!

And that right there is why I will never be good at body work or paint! LOL. I wish you were closer to help me with a project!

Anyway welcome and looking forward to seeing the pictures. There is a ton of info for the car here that is very helpful, you've come to the right place!

Thanks guys. Next time I get a cool project at my shop or do something special to the Riv, I will do a photo or video log of the project to post. Maybe someone will find it interesting. We are suppose to have nice weather Saturday, so I will take pictures of the Riv and try to post them.

If you need to post pictures or videos and don't know how just set yourself up with an account on photobucket.com. It's a free image hosting site. All you have to do is upload the images to your photobucket account. Then just simply copy and paste the image address(es) to this site and viola. happy
