PostSubject: Matco OBDII/EOBD & CAN Scan Tool   Matco OBDII/EOBD & CAN Scan Tool EmptyMon Dec 13, 2010 10:26 am

Hey guys. Being that I have 3 different tool guys come by every week, thought I'd post this sale Matco is having right now on a scanner.

It's an OBDII/EOBD & CAN Scan Tool (P/N Can400). It does the following....

--Live data
--Displays generic and enhanced data, State OBD check, and OBDII drive cycle Mode
--Reads MIL status, I/M monitors, pending DTC's, VIN, CVN and Cal ID's, O2 monitor tests, Diagnostic monitor test, On Board systems
--Reads and displays Freeze Frame data.
--Over 15,000 code definitions, Field updateable via USB, EOBD compatible
--Includes: CAN400 - OBDII/EOBD Scan Tool, User Manual, CD, USB cable, and USB Port.

Good little scan tool for $124.95 + tax.
It's a good price for what it does IMO. antone interested can let me know, or find your own Matco guy! Sale is effective Dec 11th through Jan 2nd.

Hey Scott, you seem to know a lot about scan tools and the riv in general: What basic scan tool would you reccomend for scanning KR? I plan on doing some mods soon and need some advice on what a good cheap tool to get for my '96. This tool seems like a great buy but it has way more features then what I need.

it has more features than you need right this minute but if you are going to wrench on aRiv for any length of time you are going to need a general purpose scan tool of some sort, not just a code reader. So it's this one, one of its cousins, CarCode or another program for a computer that scans not just reads codes, or a Tech II if you're flush.

Albertj is right. If you're planning on doing your own repairs, more than just a simple code reader is needed. That's why I posted this listing for you guys. Eventually, we all need a good scanner that can monitor AND display PID's in real time. This allows you to see what's going on while eliminating some of the "guess" work (KR is a great example). The Snapshot function is awesome too. Every OBDII system takes a "snapshot" of all the important parameters when a DTC sets. Being able to view these snapshots is a luxury only found on decent scanners. There are MANY different kinds out there, but this particular Matco scanner was in this months flyer, so I thought I'd extend the offer.....
