Trunk Lid Panel? Empty
PostSubject: Trunk Lid Panel?   Trunk Lid Panel? EmptyWed Jan 05, 2011 2:11 pm

Does anyone make a trunk lid panel/carpet for our cars? If not would anybody be interested in one if I started making them? I could possibly customize them to say different things. I just have to do some thinking/design to come up with one that will work. Are the trunks lids on the rivieras similar to any other cars?

Are you thinking of a molded mat (like the trunk liner), a piece of auto (cut pile nylon) carpet with pads applied to fill the voids between lid ribs, or what? Please say more.

Yes, please elaborate. I don't understand exactly where you would put such a thing, or why. Do you mean on the underside of the trunk lid?

I'm guessing that Ben wants the underside of the deck lid to be as spiffy as the underside of the hood... happy

That is exactly what I am talking about something to go on the underside of the trunk lid. Either car or plastic or something. Although if i had to make a custom one it would be carpet or leather, with somekind of writing or emblem.

I trimmed one of the hood liners; it had been damaged by a broken belt, and sewed a binding around it and put it on the trunk lid of my ’95. I had it in for a while but never figured out a way to fill the hole where the light was and I took it out when I painted the car and haven’t put it back since. I drilled holes in the inside of the trunk and mounted it with the same pins as it was mounted under the hood. cheers
I’ll see if I can get some pics thumbsup

My guess is that you'd have to come up with a projected cost before anyone could really vote...

Here is what I had in my ‘95 for a while; it kind of dressed it up like I think you are looking for. rock

A sample without a flash and with, it is kind of dirty since it has been hanging in the garage, but you can get the idea anyway. I never really looked into fixing the hole where the under hood light was, might be why I didn’t leave it in?

Anyway, there you go, just thought it might be somewhat what you were looking for thumbsup

It similar to what I am wanting but I think the riviera symbol would lokk much better. But if i did my own custom ones I dont think I would be able to use the riviera logo/name due to copyright. If i sold them

-Yeah, I was thinking about the big R myself...

-Nice, Randall! Hey, don't worry about eliminating the hole from the underhood light, embrace it - mount a bottle-opener there! cheers

Very nice Randall! Give it a shot Ben and post your results, I personally would prefer a plane one.

Did you ever build that custom trunk panel?

I'd be interested in one.

Never got to it sorry! I want to. I really haven't done anything to my car for awhile. I don't hardly even drive it. If someone comes up with something let me know.
