| Just wanted to introduce myself...new here but have read these posts for a month or so... I just bought a 1996 Riviera. Pearl white... supercharged of course.. near perfect body/paint. I bought it with bad rod..maybe bearing knock.. :paint Really doesn't matter because I also bought an engine from a grand prix. . and I'm currently getting the intake. Oil pan. Valve cover gaskets all replaced.. of course with the felpro aluminum ones.. also new plugs wires. Synthetic oil switch. SC maintenance.. so that makes a 176xxx mile Riviera with a pretty fresh 100xxx mile engine. oh... and I bought it with the sequential tail lights... Ill get some pics up eventually... but anyway.. hi and I live in Nebraska.. Saved another riv from the junkyard | |

| welcome. Before you spend time and money on an engine swap make sure the "bad rod or bearing knock" isn't a defective supercharger coupler. It's a $30 part that takes about 1h to change. | |

| LOL I know I already am infatuated. .. I stare at the pics on my phone all the time.. Oh... and its not the SC... we unhooked it and its pretty serious knock... I already bought the engine and its all tore apart getting evthing except head gaskets... the engine in it is knocking horribly... like its about to throw a rod thru the engine... and its leaking like a 9 month pregnant woman... the car itshelf had the suspension completely overhauled right before I bought it... the sequential lights done... new fuel pump.filter... new alternator. Starter.. everything works... fully loaded... sunroof.. power evthing... well u guys know what comes fully loaded... the adjustable suspension has been bypasses so I don't get a $3000 Cadillac problem on my hands... not a dent on it... no accidents.. straight as an arrow.. a couple scratched here or there. Nothing a little swirlx and wax can't take care of... all for only $800 and the engine and radiator-$550 ( there's oil in thecurrent radiator) Guess u can't beat that.....
Oh and my name is Randy. I'm 23.. in Omaha..... and you are all probably going to be seeing a lot of me so..... get used to it.. lol

| good. Since the new engine is out, I suggest dropping in a VS camshaft and doing mild valvesprings, retainers and VALVESEALS. If you can do your own labour, spend the extra $500 to do it now. If you plan on modifying the engine in the future, now is a good time to get your SC casing ported and polished. It's relatively inexpensive through Wbody store. Remember to replace the injector o-ring seals. | |

| Yea... ill Def get some pics/vids of her.... I'm just on my phone and I can't find out how to upload those from this damn thing... so I have to email them and get to a computer within a couple days.. I would do the camshaft and all... but seeing how I'm dropping like 2k just to get it up and running I don't have the cash... and I wish I could do it all myself. LOL... I have moderate know-how and minimal facilities... Io and I have to get new rubber on it... I think I found out how they blew it in the first place looking at the front tires... or rather lack of... | |

Im also going to take off those chrome pieces on the grill too... they are ugly IMO and crooked... the glue is all gummed up (there goes a bottle of goo-gone)
