| Does anyone know of a reliable place where I could get new carpet? Decided to keep the RIviera and got a Pacifica for the family so I'm trying to fix it up.
Somehow I've worn a hole in the carpet where the heel of my foot goes.

| You have two choices - to patch the current carpet or get new.
I have purchased carpet (not for the Riv) from Auto Custom Carpets of Anniston, Alabama. If they did not get whacked by the tornados... the carpet I got from them for my Volvo was fine. They supply JCWhitney and others, and also sell direct.
For that matter you may want to try JCWhitney.
As for a patch, what you do is find a junked GM car with same color carpet and cut a section out that's somewhat larger than your holey portion. Basically then you use a knife to trip the edges of the holey section away (get rid of the curl) and cement the new behind, using a hair comb (yeah, a hard-rubber Ace comb works well for this) to pull the nap up so you can't see the cut-in line. If you can get a large enough section of carpet of matching color, best thing to do is cut the replacement section in along the lines where there are major 'valley' bends in the current carpeting. PM me if you have more questions about this.

| The entire carpet is in terrible condition so I'll be opting for a new molded carpet.
Unfortunately it doesn't appear ACC carries carpet for the Riviera, which is the problem I'm running into everywhere. I'll check with JC Whitney later this evening.

Because the "molds" are blocks and pans of various sizes that are arranged on a stage, you maybe might want to phone them and see if they will make you one. The "stock" carpets are made to order not necessarily inventoried, it's just that they have the patterns. You also may find someone who will cut-and-sew one for you -- ACC can for instance, they do for the early cars.

| the carpet in 1997 riv is looking "tired". "google" does not lead to a source for a new molded carpet for our 8th gen cars. nothing resulted from eight clicks including jc whitney, stock interiors, raybucks, ebay...
does anyone know where to get one?

Did you *phone* these guys? https://www.accmats.com/about/ Reason to phone: This company is related to the company that invented molded auto carpet. Originally the "molds" that are used to make these carpets were blocks that could be re-arranged on a stage. Given a carpet to copy from, or certain measurements, a replacement can be made by rearranging the blocks, steaming/stamping the carpet, then trimming the edges. They made me a replacement for a Volvo wagon (745) I used to own. It was not in their online catalog either.

**Wow** it's really changed from when I used them for the Volvo carpet. They had the females answering the phones but the answer was "if we can find one in a salvage yard we can copy that carpet" and such. Worst case was they'd sell you yardage dyed to your color and you could cut-and-sew. The trick with tat is to sew the big seams in areas that are not seen, like under a console It is entirely possible that Lear made those carpets. Albetrj

...their current guide (LINK) shows Riviera to '93. Maybe they will cut-and-sew one if you ask. I bet the Riv floor pan is similar or identical to the other GM late 90's G's and their descendants. To wit: Wikipedia: - Wikipedia wrote:

Platform consolidation
Starting with the 1997 Buick Park Avenue, GM consolidated its four large-car platforms; C platform, K platform, H platform, and G platform; all to the G platform. However, GM decided to retain their previous platform designations.[1] These legacy platform designations were used in the VIN number and official GM publications. Models designated as "G" went out of production for MY 1999, but successor models were sold until MY 2011. Problem is, none of those years G-platform bodies are listed in the Newark guide I found. That said, a junkyard carpet might not be a bad bet - once out you could clean it, or have it cleaned by anyone offering off-site cleaning of entry mats and area rugs. Problem with having it cleaned is the pricing. Depending on competition in your area it could exceed $100 - for that $$$ you likely could buy a small wet dry vac and large-ish residential steam wand or a ready-made floor steam cleaner to do it yourself. Use the steam wand later to steam clean your engine, smooth draperies, and other stuff.
