Broken latch prong on console lid Empty
PostSubject: Broken latch prong on console lid   Broken latch prong on console lid EmptySun Jul 10, 2011 9:16 pm

I've found repair threads for the console button, but none for the broken off piece on the lid. I accidentally gave mine an elbow smash tonight and snapped the little plastic piece right off while I had the lid up. This followed having to remove the felt liners in the cup holders, but I digress...

Anywho... anyone had any luck cementing this latch piece back onto the lid? I'm trying out Gorilla glue on it right now, will see tomorrow if it holds up to use or not. If not, I suspect it will be time to shop for a replacement lid.

i have tried several different methods on a friends riv and every few months it seems to break off again.
This time i tried 3M emblem adhesive....1 week and counting.
I have also used permatex plastic weld with some sucess. Never gave gorilla glue a try because i dont like the stuff, but if it works on your ill sure use it next.

Refresh my memory... does the lid pop all the way up when the latch is released? Seems to me it does. I honestly don't care whether or not it pops up. If the glue doesn't hold, I may just look at removing the springs if possible.

Well, the glue is holding so far today. I think it will be good for quite a while, as I plan to push the release button before I push the lid down to close it, that should take a lot of the stress out of the closing operation.
