I didnt know where to post this but I need help before I go to the dealership and buy the wrong thing. Let me start off by telling you what happen. I sent my nephew to my car and he bent my ignition key. The bend was kinda in the middle, I was able to bent it back almost straight by tapping it with a hammer. Well there is still a slight curve or kink in the key making it really hard to push in. But when I get it in my car turns on and everything lights up but nothing as far as cranking it, I mean nothing, No clicks no fuel pump nothing. There was no damage to the chip on the key that I see. Could my car just need to be reset somehow to see if it will crank for me trying over and over to get the key in or do I need to try a new key? The key I have is original as far as I know so it is a old key.
And if I get a new key and thats not it what else could it be? Could forcing the key a little mess up what reads the chip? I plan to get a key in the morning but I want to get my car back home I had to leave it at the local high school parking lot.
