I purchased my 98 Riviera from a private party who owned it for 4 years and put 120k on it. Came with a stack of dealer maintained receipts and some Caddy STS rims for snows. I'm looking at headers, deleting cat., and flowmasters on the exhaust. On the intake side I was leaning toward an intercooler, 3.4" pulley, TB spacer, S/C polishing, and maybe opening up the air cleaner intake a little bit (only real restriction I saw in it's design). On the engine internals I'm really looking at 1.9 rockers, 180 degree T-stat, and scariest of all to me: PCM reprogramming.

I'm not afraid to put in the time learning the software or the cost really, just mostly looking for a couple like minded folks here that would consider bouncing ideas off each other and having a wider test bed. I'd like to get a PCM or 2 to have on hand for programming and testing. I'm sure there are a couple guys here that would help out on the testing if we had the extra PCMs to guarantee our daily drivers would get us to work on Monday after our weekend of tinkering.

Anyways, any like-minded folks are encouraged to shout at me and idiots are asked to steer clear.

Thanks,

Rebel Faggioli

How much truth is there in your MPG being negatively effected by EGR delete? I also don't seem to see the U-bend in my exhaust others with 3800s have deleted. Am I blind? What commone ailments do the 4T65-E-HDs have? Thanks in advance.

The Riv has no "u-bend". Those are only found on Regals, Grand Prixs, etc. As for deleting the EGR, don't bother. Unless you're planning on going with a giant turbo with 500HP, you will not gain or lose anything HP wise.

The trans is solid. Most of the faults found in these transmissions are "self inflicted" from lack of maintenance. Every now and again, it'll toss a shift solenoid, but over all its a great trans.
