used cam

would anyone here buy a used cam (performance cam)?

if so , what should you look for to make sure it's in good shape ?

I might have a lead on a used one, but I don't want to buy a paper weight and not sure how to go about negotiating..any advice would be appreciated

It has to be absolutely straight.without a dial indicator its hard to know.the likelyhood of a cam being bent is rare,but still. the cam surfaces have to be scratch free, no,"aw man,a little polish will get em out" no scratches.some wear marks are normal,but nothing you can catch your fingernail in. None of that, buy it. I would recomend taking it to a machine shop and have it looked at.they'll be able to size it up quickly.
how much is it selling for?

I've used used hydraulic roller camshafts before. Still holding up after 30k km.

Don't do it with a flat tappet cam like in the GN in your avatar.

Thanks for the info guys. i didn't end up buying the cam ,i got a bad vibe from the seller he was very evasive on questions that i had asked him. But i did manage to get some zzp black Friday sales . so head over to the for sale section and buy my rocker set up....
