| Just a note to let you all know a grey haired old coot has jointed the group. Bought my 98 Rivie brand new, and have just 40,000 miles on her. Trying to keep her nice. Best gas mileage in the mountains returning from Florida 33.5 mpg. Also just found a 85 with 20,000 miles that I use with the Buick Driving Enthusiasts driving cross country.

| I'm from the old school, if it ain't broke don't fix it. My trip from Florida started in Naples, crossed over to the East Coast up through the mountains thru Indianapolis and into Michigan. Standard non mountain driving 32-33mpg almost without fail. My secret? Don't get into the blower unless you really gotta. The less blower, the better the mileage.I've replaced front brake discs and shoes, and struts. Had to replace the pan gasket due to a very small leak. Also I did make one mod. I took out the side panels in the trunk, rolled up some soundproof matting and placed it vertically just back of the wheels.between the floor and the top of the rear fender then put the side panels back. You'd be surprised how much quieter it is. Road noise reduced considerably. Packed the area behind the front wheels just in front of the door with the same stuff. Qu-iet! | |

Do you attend the "Downriver Cruise" just south of Detroit, the reason I ask, is that I attended the last 3 years. and I drive from Philly. http://www.cruisindownriver.com/Default.asp | |
