| hello everyone happy to get to chat with yall, I have a 1995 Rivi, the problem i've haveing is that my car will start almost every time I turn the key, how ever every 10th or 15th start, it just won't start, it will turn over but won't run, i have to let it sit sometimes for 2 or 3 hours, and it starts fine, for at least 10, or 15 more starts, and then again, does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?? thanks, and again it's a pleasure to see so many Rivi enthusiast. you guys have a good day!! | |

| Fuel pump or FF would be where I would first suspect, possibly (I doubt it) injectors. You getting fuel? Can you hear the pump turn on when you turn the key on before cranking it over? Scan for codes. Check the fuel pressure at fuel rail and make sure fuel is actually getting there. check for spark, Vacuum leaks. If you get all those checked without success get back to me and we can go further into the sensor end of things. | |

| Sorry misread your initial post, upon 2nd read I would look at crank shaft or camshaft sensors | |

| hello again, we've checked the Rivi out, fuel pressure is about 1 lb low, fuel filter was changed, the fuel in it was black, no codes, no vacuum leaks, still did it one more time | |

| Make sure the key is clean and dry. Does the '95 key have the little chip in the key? You might want to brush it clean with some scotch brite or steel wool. Do you have a lot of stuff hanging on your keychain? If so get it off! You will wear out the ignition switch.
Does the security light flash when it won't start? | |

| Juan Hometown hero is probably right on the money, it most likely is a crankshaft positioning sensor and there not hard to replace and there not to overly expensive either, Hometown hero I got to tell you that trunk looks awesome, and the engine compartment is out of this world, it looks great. | |

| Have you scanned it for codes? I would still lean towards the sensor end of it, have you ruled that out already? Might have something to do with the "security" system on your car? Oh and thanks black shadow. | |

| Do you have a check engine light? That's pretty important to note for a problem like this. If you do, it's probably the crank or cam position sensor. Mine did the same thing. | |
