| So my 95 has a 45w x4 pioneer deck back from '99 installed in it. The speakers are the stock speakers. Overall the sound is great compared to most vehicles, that is except for my stock 03 lesabre which can dial in toooons more booty into the bass and at least twice the volume. In the riv as soon as I get the volume up loud enough to enjoy with the windows down it sounds like either a limiter on the deck or physical cutting out of the speakers --------------------- Updated post #3

If you left the OE speakers in your Riv then the problem is probably impedance mismatch between the speakers (8-10 ohms at the leads) and the Pioneer deck (3-4 ohms at the leads). You will need to locate and install any decent grade of replacement speakers that are rated 4 ohms or so, then use an audio check CD to rebalance the system. You can make an audio check CD using files found here: http://www.audiocheck.net/ It will also give you an idea of the freq response of you system as installed, which can vary from the component ratings. | |

| I'm now to the decision I'm just going to give my riv the full new audio setup it deserves. Still undecided on which component and rear speakers to pick, looking at polk, boston acoustic, and alpine due to quality v price. BUT, I think I've settled on a head unit and was wondering what y'all think. Most importantly, assurance that it'll fit. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/DVD-Receivers/AVH-P1400DVD It's got every feature I want. Am/fm, dvd, cd, aux, usb w/1amp charge, pac steering wheel compatibility, full 8band eq, Android integration, hd radio, blah blah blah. I have a 95 and the 2din space seems the right size but the unit has square corners and our rivs have rounded corners in the dash space...? | |
