| Are you sure its rod knock or is it maybe the supercharger coupler worn and making noise. Which sounds like rods.
Hint Z slip the SC belt off and start car (Do NOT run it long with belt off) does the noise change/go away?

| I would say if you did the machine shop work you were supposed to when you replaced those bearings then it's not unrealistic to think you have a supercharger coupler noise not rod noise. However if you did not then we would not be surprised to find that you have rod knock. | |

| did you already shop for a replacement engine? An SC engine might not be as much $$ as you think, given that if you put in an NA engine you are going to have a, well, PCM headache and that there's more than one SC engine out there.
The other thing - if you shop around I would not be surprised to find a replacement SC Series I engine for under (perhaps well under) $1,000. They were in a lot of 90's GM cars that were not driven very hard, like the Olds 88 LSS and Buick Park Ave.
AndI would still slip that SC belt off and see if the knock stays. Just for grins. Won't take but a moment...

| Ive been calling different places for a couple months and the ones i found were over 1400 with over 14000 miles to me thats alot of money for the mileage i would glady pay if they had low miles.. and i will do the supercharger belt im starting to think that the knock kight be something else .. is it normal do you think for a engine to last 8 months with a rod knock being a daily drive and a abuse daily driver lol im young with a heavy foot | |

| That would be unlikely, especially on a supercharged motor. I think you should take Alberts advice and slip off the sc belt. It only takes a couple of minutes to do. | |

Yeah, in my experience the failing alternator bearing sounds like a spun main bearing, and the supercharger coupler failing is mistaken for all kinds of problems - one way to get a SC buick or olds cheap was to find one where the SC bearing was going because it sounds so much like the chuckle of a knocking rod.
