| I really wanted to get my 605 copper plugs done before running again this weekend, so I arranged a long lunch and got them done in about 45 min. It wasn't quite as bad as I expected for the rear plugs. #6 was the easiest of those 3, as I was able to stretch out my arm and get good leverage. 2 and 4 were kind of a bear to put back in, as my forearms seem to be too long to fit well to get leverage to tighten them up easily. I'll probably have to put it up on ramps and recheck 2 and 4 from underneath. But they are ok for now. On to the front plugs... 5 was a breeze. I had pulled this one last fall to check condition before winter, and it looked ok so I left them all alone for winter. Bad choice. 1 and 3 plugs are basically gone. There's no points anymore, just a rounded little hump. Both measure over .080, which is the largest my gap tools measure. They don't LOOK terrrible, color-wise, but I have to believe they weren't firing very well. Very happy to have them out. I have new OEM wires too, but decided not to swap them at this time. I don't think my originals are bad at all, and they look good inside the boots. Came off without too much trouble also. It seems to be running a bit smoother, not surprisingly. I gapped the 605's at .057. I have 3 tools, none of which have a .058 that I wanted to do. So I used my feeler gauge with the 18, 19, and 20 together to get .057. Picked up a taper gauge too, and that thing is all F'd up. Never used one before, but it is NOT made right. I can actually see a spot on it where the thickness does not increase symetrically, and it measuered about .006 bigger than my 2 other tools. For $1.94, it's going in the garbage. I'll try to put up a pic of those bad plugs later, I've never seen any this bad on one of my vehicles before. | |

| What kind of plugs were in there? The Autolites I use get switched every 20k or so... They aren't hard to do, esp now that I've changed them like 6 times. Never look too bad when I take them out, but the gaps of each plug increases from .058" to .070". This is normal, and it's why I change them out as often as I do. Great plugs, though.
Hope your car runs better now. How many miles on the car? If past 100k, might as well put those new wires on. If you do like I did and see how long they last, you wake up one day and drive to work to find your car just shakes; I didn't know what was going on... thought my tranny was going out. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| Plugs are NGK 24504873. The other 4 don't look too bad, and gap at barely over .060. I would have changed the wires, but I knew I didn't have time to do that also, over lunch. But I will sometime this summer, car has 109k. They are very clean inside the boots, so they may not be original. I'll probably change plugs on a 2 year schedule or so, my annual mileage will be around 9-10k. And I'll def keep an eye on the 1 & 3 plugs... | |

| they are a piece of cake to do with a basic ratchet and a spark plug socket. my biggest struggle is just getting the boots off the plugs in the back - they were much harder than they should be but thats ok cause i have new wires coming yay! | |

Same thing happend to me. Called my girlfriends uncle told him I thought my tranny was gone. He took it to his shop and called me and said he just changed the wires and it runs great now.

I actually got the rears off easiest. It worked real well to lay out across the front of the right fender and reach back there with the left arm. Though being left-handed would have helped even more. I almost pulled the hood strut off that side too, was kind of in my way. Here are those ugly 1 & 3 plugs:
