Fuel leak Empty
PostSubject: Fuel leak   Fuel leak EmptyMon Jul 16, 2007 7:07 pm

As i reported on the showroom topic, last night i encountered a fuel leak.
Today, ater work, i checked the car. I found that the fuel lines marked CAUTION, NOT REPAIRABLE had a leak on one. It's like a pin size hole. Very small, but a good leak. It's pressurized.
Can someone who has replaced these point me in the right direction.
Is there any place other than the dealer for these specific lines?

It's the black plastic fuel lines, there are 4 of them at the firewall. Then they seperate going into the engine.

I tried Pep Boys, but they had rubber fuel lines. Are those any good?

I'd go salvage or new. Rubber fuel line would work, but it's kinda rigged. I think your the first on the board to have a leak in those lines.

nope. I had a leak once. Never saw it, could only smell it with the vent/ac/heat on.

I got the shop to fix it. Back before I did my own repairs.

alright. i got the car fixed. I tried contacting dralers, but they were closing or closed by the time i got to them. S o i went back to PEP BOYS. Talked to a couple of guys and after buying the wrng lenght hoses twice. i got 2 feet FUEL INJECTION hose. (they are rated for working pressure of 100PSI and max burst of 500 PSI)
The size for that perticular line is 3/8. Bought some fuel line clamps, and voila! I ran for awhile and everything looks good. I'm still going to try and find the OEM hoses and replace all of those lines.

After i removed the leaky one i saw the actual leak. It's no pin hole. The line was cracked right down the middle on one of the 90' bends. The material failed. I can see these failing, and i want to replace them before that happens. I'll take soem pictures soon.
