alright i didnt kno what i was called but i found it in a diagram, the red arrow is pointing at it:

and was wondering on how to get it off?

do i have to remove the whole center console?

IIRC you have to remove that whole big piece it's attached to - shown seperate from the center console in the diagram.

Emm, yeah - here's a pic of mine when I had it out -

Take off the console lid, undo the screws in the storage compartment, and carefully pry it up from the back. I think the front is only held down with clips. Oh, and pull the shift knob first. There's a u shaped clip on the front of it, about halfway down. Remove that clip and the knob will slide off the shaft.

I painted the edges of mine. You don't want to take the cover off. Mask off the parts you don't want to paint instead.

If you're going to install a dash kit, just paint the edges so your overlay has a clean area to stick to.

The cup holder is molded into the rest of the trim panel; the cover is attached with clips and a spring. I'm not sure how hard it would be to remove but I'm sure it wouldn't be real easy.

You can see one of the clpis and the spring in the picture below:

ok thanks. yea i really dont want to mess with a spring and get it all messed up lol.

so i think ill just do the safe thing and use some painters tape and save some time..
