Help ,my dash is going crazy. EVERY light lights up ,then flickers, then goes totally dark , then OK, then flickers. It 's like a ballroom light show. Could there be a bad ground? Or this a telltale sign to try and get a new dash? Can you still get them? Thank you

I'm assuming you're talking about your IPC (instrument panel cluster). Sounds like you might only have a loose/dirty wire harness connection at the back of the IPC. Remove the trim plate, then the cluster and clean/reattach the harness connection and see if it eliminates the problem.

How's your alternator looking? That or a failing battery can make odd symptoms where your dash has intermittent xmas light issues... Worth a look.

Good luck.

Mine has symptoms like this. It comes on intermittently works great (all gauges functioning) for a while then goes off. When it's blacked out the speedo reads "00", odo reads "error" and there is a warning light for "electrical problem." (Duh!) Anyway, on mine I've noticed the tachometer drops from the operating engine speed to zero before the dash quits. Everything else seems to be fine.

Ironclyde,
As mentioned in my previous post "00" and "error" can be an indication of:

"you might only have a loose/dirty wire harness connection at the back of the IPC. Remove the trim plate, then the cluster and clean/reattach the harness connection and see if it eliminates the problem".

Also, a rebuilt IPC is an alternative. 1990-1993 Riviera and 1990-1991 Reatta IPC's are interchangeable. They are a common item for sale on EBay ranging from $100 to $199 depending on guarantees offered.

Thanks Ship. I did all of the wire harness shaking and connector cleaning. So, I'm with you on the IPC. Fortunately, I have a friend who can repair it. He's the kinda guy that might be inclined to trade silver coins or ammo or you know... He's a good guy but he's out of town on vacation in Virginia. I didn't want to wait until he got back. I'm wondering if it's not a loose soldered connection.
