| I have a series I Riviera with a CAI and 95,000 miles. I'd like to mod it some more and was hoping to get some help with what to do to it. A series II swap is out of the question. I have $500 to put into it. Any help is appreciated! | |

I think most of the guys didn't have to do any cutting. I did on mine because I didn't want to have to go through the fender well everytime I needed to clean the filter. But even though I cut mine, the factory box will cover any enlargment to the opening I made if i decide to put it back stock.

| If I had only $500 to spend on a series I, I'd do a CAI/FWI, scanner, mini AFC, AL104s, 180 t-stat, & 2.6" SC pulley... Make 15-20 HP and call it a day! _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| custom catback would probably be eliminating the resonator put in a 3" pipe into a Y pipe with 2.5" exits to two hi flo mufflers... just an exhuast system...my guess is it would cost about 250 at most muffler shops. | |

| FWI = fender well intake... the pipe routes into a conical filter in the fender well.... theres a bulletin with all the abbreviations somewhere... mps is modular pulley systed , dp is downpipe , pcm is powertrain control module.... those are some of the common ones. | |

| Also I need some ideas for what to do with my series I. I don't realy want to swap it for a series II. I never had a blown engine before. Is it safe to run it on nitrous? If so how big of a shot is too big for these 6 cyl.? | |

| I have heard a guy run a 100 wet shot. I would make sure your fuel system is up to spec first. | |

| fraid the series one is a bit scarce in the mod dept. Headers won't work from a series 2, because on the series 2 the exaust ports are evenly spaced. The series one has un-evenly spaced ports, so if you wanted headers on the series one, you really would have to get them custom done. For mods, start with the basics(tune-up etc), then move to cooler Tstat, and scan for engine knock. If you are knock free you can drop a pulley size. also you can consiter doing a port and polish on your lower intake manifold.
http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/ has a bunch of good info on series 1 modding _________________
