| Subject: 95 Series I with Series II parts from factory, any external indicators? Sat Aug 17, 2013 11:03 pm | |
| I've seen it mentioned a few times that some 95 Series I SC engines later in the 95 model year came with some of the Series II parts, specifically the Series II lighter crankshaft. For example: https://rivperformance.editboard.com/t1282p75-faq-series-i-sc-harmonic-balancer-diagnosis-installation - Karma wrote:
- The good news for you here is that if you have the second design, you also have a chance of having the series 2 oil pan, different cam end cap, and lighter series 2 crank. The lighter S2 crank in the series 1 = rare factory freak for power.
So, I was wondering: 1) Is it confirmed that this happened and some Series I SC engines received Series II parts? 2) If so, has anyone also confirmed what parts were included and were they all included at the same time, or piece-meal? 3) And if so, are there any external or other indicators (e.g. VIN range?) that identify cars that had these Series II parts? These things have happened before with other makes/models, so it seems reasonable it could be the case as Buick transitioned to the Series II and parts for the Series I began be exhausted on the line. Any clue? Thanks, Al | |

| Harmonic Balancer is Only thing I've found so far. 95 vs 96 is about a 6 OZ weight on inside. The 95 version had my motor out of balance jumping/Vibrating. I would assume that some of the other items along the belt drive system are 96 as well. | |
