| I can't list all the models for you but I can tell you that the 9145 works for the 95's. I recently bought the 9150 (includes 9145 super scanner plus many of the optional cables for it) from amazon and I'm very happy with it. The price was $214 with shipping and it arrived next day. It will allow you to monitor kr and many other parameters. One piece of advice when deciding which unit to buy, since the obd-1 is an older system it can't do many of the things that obd-2 can. So if your riv is the only car you will be scanning there is no need to buy the most expensive one because it won't do any more for you than the cheap one. But on the other hand if you want an advanced scanner for multiple vehicles then just make sure it says that it will read obd-1 and -2. | |

| One more thing Shawn... Its stated earlier in this thread but in case you didn't see, keep in mind that the 95 uses an obd-1 computer with an obd-2 connector. That means you DO NOT need the optional cables for the scanner unless you plan on scanning other vehicles. The generic obd-2 connector is all you need for the riv. | |

The 95 has an OBD-1 system that interfaces with OBD-2 jack. If you use the Search function on this site with something like "95 riviera scan" you shoudl find them. hopefully some of the 95 owners will chime in and just say what scanners they use. Albertj

| I believe there are two knock sensors, mounted vertically into the engine block, on either side of the block, about halfway between the exhaust manifolds and oil pan.
Does anyone know what voltage these should read? I would like to test them before replacing.

| Not likely. 95 is OBD 1.5 if memory serves.. it's a bastard program that no one really made an aftermarket scanner for. It's total bullshit. That's my say.. Hopefully some 95 guys can chime in on this. | |

The CP9145 is actually not a bad general use scanner. It will scan your OBD 1.5 95, any OBD1 if you get that cable with it, and any normal OBD2. It won't display the extended values on OBD2 like ABS, etc... but it is a great code reader and clearer. You will find it useful for general maintenance tool of your and others cars. Keep an eye out on Amazon for it. Often they have a *really* cheap one come up. I got mine for 80 bucks. _________________

| I got lucky and got this scanner for really cheap, with an OBD1 cable extension. Paid $124 shipped for the scanner, 6 foot cable, OBDII and OBD1 connectors. It has paid for itself probably 4 or 5 times over. I've scanned and read codes successfully on my '86 Regal T-type, '88 Lesabre T-type, '89 Reatta, my '00 Bonneville, my former '95 Riviera, and my dad's '04 Regal GS. HIGHLY recommended, cheap or not! | |

| Try bridging pins 3-4 to retrieve codes from 1995 models. You should get the service engine flash like previous years. NO scanner needed to pull codes. | |

| I love this site! Need some advice: I have a 1995 Ultra and a 1997 SC Riviera. I’m looking for a scaner that could be used on both cars. Preferably $100-$300 range. Any Recommendations? Thanks | |

| They can't scan it because it's OBD I. Parts stores can only scan OBD II vehicles ('96-newer). | |

Look at the Actron line at their web site. They sell an OBD I/II combo scanner.

thank you You aren't jumping anything. It's an OBD II connector, and therefore a scanner with an OBD II cable is required.

| Hey guys I have tunerpro rt and I've purchased the 16pin to serial adapter but I don't ha e a serial port on my laptop. I bought a serial to usb adapter but I can't get it to work with the program. I selected the com port but it doesn't recognize the cable. Are there any drivers I need to install to make it work? Or do I have to buy a whole new cable? | |
