new to riv's and love it

Hey guys I just picked up a 97 Riviera. I traded a v8 s10 for it, it is black and has 200k on the body and a supposed 50k on a rebuilt engine. Currently the trans is having problems. It will go into first, second and reverse. It shudders when you move in reverse. I plan to keep the car so I want to fix her up and start tuning and getting some more power from it. I'll post some pics tomorrow when I get back to my computer.

Thanks for the welcome, i plan to ask some questions after I do some more scanning with my dads snapon scantool. I have been doing lots of reading and there are some very helpful people on here and I am looking forward to being part of the group.

Well i guess i would need to know muscles intrests.

so you gonna replace the "bad transmission( was told only 1st and reverse worked)" with a hd like came in my 97 or fix it? or was the guy just not up with what he was doin and it needed fluid? my first truck they said the tran was goin out and it ended up bein a completly (might have had 1 qt of fluid in it) tranny. filled it up and never had a prob.

it has no 3rd or 4th. and has 3.98 Gears? ( PCM told me) and i plan to rebuild it or find a used one locally. the guy i got it from didnt know his a$$ from a hole in the ground about anything car related.

I already love it. i just want it to shift right lol.

Welcome! I agree that once the trans is working correctly, it'll be a blast. Being a '97+ model you'll enjoy all sorts of valuable engine and suspension upgrades, and it makes the car addicting.
