Loss of 4th Gear/Overdirve Empty
PostSubject: Loss of 4th Gear/Overdirve   Loss of 4th Gear/Overdirve EmptyMon Jul 29, 2013 7:27 pm

My '95 Riv is running good but I have an issue with my '88 Oldsmobile Toronado. The transmission is not shifting into overdrive. A transmission repairman confirmed that gears 1,2 & 3 are working properly as well as the Torq Converter Clutch. He is telling me the 4th gear teeth are worn down. I believe I lost 4th gear about 2 weeks ago. I didn't even notice. I had absolutely no slipping or prior warning. My concern is to pay for mechanical transmission repair when it could be electrical. I pulled the code EO39 which relates to the TCC. The manual reference a 15amp fuse which I confirmed is good and the brake switch which could play a role. I asked the repair guy while we were doing a test drive about the brake switch and he said it and the TCC were working properly. I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
