Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) Empty
PostSubject: Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I)   Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) EmptyThu Sep 12, 2013 10:46 pm

Here is a how to on injector swapping after getting cleaned or new one's

my engine bay before removal

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1818_zps44fb155b

get the wires outa the way

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1819_zps4f140831

first relieve the fuel pressure.I don't know if it's a must but I do it anyway

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1826_zpse9b691dd

next pop the plastic clips that secure the inj.loom and the vac tree atop the S/C

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1824_zpsf766f7b5

next ,push on the thin wire clip on the side of the inj. connector.  don't pull on it! carefully pull the connector off.baby the connectors!they've been soaking up heat for years and can be brittle!

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1829_zps5d1d3abf

pull the 10mm bolts off the rail brackets

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1824_zpsf766f7b5

push off the metal retainer clip on the back of the rail port. don't lose em!

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1831_zpsc5686876

pull up gently on the rail with the injectors

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1831_zpsc5686876

remove the injectors.gently rock em out.

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1833_zps6eb7d76e

clean the rail ports that take the inj. tops. lotsa crud in there.clean the manifold ports too.there could be built up soot that will affect the seal of the new o-rings.

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1818a_zps462aed84

install refreshed injectors with a nice swap of grease, vaseline, whatever. don't install the injector into the ports without grease, you could damage the o-ring.do this for the bottom injector o-rings as well.

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1819a_zpsdc3eafcd

I take elec cleaner and blow out the electrical connectors followed by a dab of dielectric

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1820a_zps12f0d34d

make sure all the retainer clips go back in! otherwise ya gotta take em all back out! when you reinstal the clips, make sure they click!slide the clip on and give the inj. a tug,it should clik.

Write-Up: Replacing Injectors (Series I) HPIM1821a_zpsddd0ebee

now ,line up the injectors to their respective ports, gently, don't damage the new caps.when you're sure all the injectors are snuggled in their ports and all the wire looms are out of the way, gently push down on the rail until it seats.reconect the injector electricals.they should go click too,if they dont, jiggle em around a little until they do.

everything all snugged up again

Driving impressions with the reconditioned injectors is very good. There is alot more pull in all the gears & the rough idle is all but gone. Well worth the expense. I should expect better mileage too.

Who did you end up sending your injectors to for cleaning? What was the cost?

...I know we've discussed a couple/few in the past.
