63 wheel covers Empty
PostSubject: 63 wheel covers   63 wheel covers EmptySun Dec 08, 2013 11:41 pm

I was looking on craigslist and came across a set of wheel covers for a 63 Riv. After looking at the pictures with the ad I questioned whether or not the wheels that came with my 63 are correct. They certainly are not the same. I am fairly certain that mine are the original. Was there more than one design? Any chance someone could post a picture?

It's either not documented, or there was only 1 option.

Could you post a picture of what you have and maybe that craigslist listing?

Did a search on 63 Riviera. Looks like there were standard wheel covers, and wire wheel covers.

Not sure about 63, maybe 64 or 65. They were the 15 X 6's with the 5X5 bolt pattern, not the more common 15 X 7" ones with the common 5 X 4 3/4 pattern.

I hate to admit that I can not send pictures but it's true. The first option from Larry's response is what I have (the white car).

I am not positive about the '63 but I think there were a few caps available. There was a standard hubcap, not real fancy; then the wire hubcap, looked a little nicer; and then the highest option was the one pictured on the white Riv, the biggest part of the cap bolts on from the back of the wheel and then the center goes on after the wheel is mounted to the car. It is an aluminum cap and VERY high dollar these days!

The road wheel was not offered on the Riv until '65.

Lots more information about the first generation Rivs on the AACA Forum, can be found here:
http://forums.aaca.org/f177/

Possibly RivNut or RivGuy will chime in here? They know way more about the first generation Rivs than I do!
