| Alright, getting ready to re-install everything after doing my lower intake gaskets and I forgot to upload this. In these two pictures you'll see thisline that runs 3rd behind the two fuel lines along the firewall behind the master cylinder. this third line runs down next to this little solenoid or bypass of some kind? not sure what the little box is, nor am I sure of what this hose is or why it is being bypassed. It is hanging completely unplugged and the hose fitting that it seemingly should plug into is being pinched off by a zip-tie... What is all this? | |

| I guess that'd be my question; what is it? And why has it never affected my car in my years driving it every day...haha | |

| My guess would be something to do with emissions. Karma would probably know though. | |

| Yep it's emissions related. It's the EVAP system purge solenoid, which vents evaporated fuel into the intake to use for combustion. It technically shouldnt affect anything being disconnected on that particular location.
It's funny for me to see that zip tie where it is - when my Series I was still in my Riviera I had a problem keeping that line connected too lol. | |

| Ha! Well now I know. I suppose I'll just let it hang the way it was or maybe plug it in and see if it stays | |

| I believe on '96 and newer (OBD-II) if that's not hooked up you'd be getting evap codes. But I'm not sure if the OBD-I systems tested the tank vents. It's just a vent for the tank. In theory it will be a vacuum leak when the solenoid opens and should be hooked up. It keeps the gas tank under just a bit of negative pressure. No reason to leave it disconnected. | |

| Looks like someone put a spark plug boot there. On my Series 2, there is a foam filter that typically disintegrates leaving the owner to think there is a disconnected line. Could this be the same thing? _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| There is typically a litttle foam filter on the boost bypass valve, but not on this evap solenoid. Everything looks right, just not connected . | |
