| Hey everyone. It's been a long time since I've been on this board, glad to see it's thriving over here! So, like most everybody, my driver's side mirror is all ruined due to leaked dimming fluid. My passenger side mirror is cracked. I need to replace both, because I'm actually looking to sell my baby Riv. I'm going to purchase the Burco replacement mirrors, here: https://www.mirrorglassplus.com/mirrorglasscatalog.php?type=Driver%20Side&make=BUICK&model=RIVIERA&year=1998&mirror=BUR-2864 Here's my question. Do I remove the glass and install these in its place, or stick them over the existing mirrors? What are people doing for the best results? I'm not worried about retaining tint or auto-dimming. | |

| It looks like you just stick them over. I've seen a couple of them done and they don't look bad, but I would rather spend the extra time and money and fix them right by getting a pair of junkyard mirrors. I'm sure a potential buyer would rather you do it that way as well. | |

| I fixed my driver's side mirror with the Burco mirror. I used a flexible epoxy and applied the replacement directly over the existing mirror glass. Came out great. The heated glass still works when I turn on the rear DEF. _________________ 98 Riviera SC3800 All stock except gutted air box. 1970 Buick GS455 Stage1, TSP built 470BBB, 602HP/589TQ Best MPH, 116.06 MPH, Best ET, 11.54 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHCda-t_Jls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT2tEO4XcU

| To remove the broken mirror first try to warm it up with a hair dryer (just a little) then with a dental floss carefully try to remove the broken pieces ......haha | |

| Thanks guys. That replacement mirror looks great, Larry.
It's not really worth it to me to track down junkyard mirrors. I've been down that road. Besides, this is a common problem with these mirrors, so I imagine that the ones out there would already have the issue or it would happen soon. I just want clean, stock-looking mirrors. The heating function still working is a major bonus! | |
