| 95 Riv SC'd, just got it and am in the process of basically rehabing it. Previous owners didn't know what they were doing. For starters, they had the wrong battery in and the venting system is nowhere to be found. They only had it in for a month or so though. No rust in the floor. Anyway, there's a white wiring connector with an orange and blue wire. It goes to the driver side into a loom, but on the passenger side (it was lying next to the battery) it is cut. I can't seem to find where it goes. Could someone help?
Thanks. | |

| Bump, wondering if anyone could chime on in what these wires are for.
Since the original post, I have done a lot of work to the vehicle, including the correct battery and vent plumbing, and a brand new alternator. Still wondering about these wires..also, whatever they go to, it is currently MIA so how would I get a replacement?

| Any way you can ad a picture? I have the back seat out of my '95 right now and should be able to look in the next few days but it would probably help to "see" what I am looking for?
If you haven't found the vent tubes yet they are available on ebay, less than $20 delivered if I remember correctly?
I'll see what I can find for you ASAP.

| I will get one tomorrow. And yeah, that sounds like the same vent plumbing I bought on Amazon. It fit a little weird but it got the job done.
Thanks for the reply! | |

| I know exactly which wires you're talking about, but I can't for the life of me remember what they're for. I even looked through wiring diagrams trying to find them....no dice. I'll ask a couple senior techs at work tomorrow if they remember. | |

| Those are exactly the wires I thought you were talking about. All the older model cars with the battery under the back seat have them. I looked at a Bonneville the other day that had them, just different colors. I cannot for the life of me find them on a schematic. I'll keep looking though. Even my Foreman doesn't remember what they're for.
In the meantime, pull them straight, move them around, and see if you can't find the other end of them. There had to be another end to those somewhere.....

| I actually did just that! I spent a good 20 minutes checking around and could not find where the "cut" ends would lead to! Definitely a perplexing scenario...I'm usually pretty good at figuring this stuff out, haha. | |

| Here's a view of the connector. The other half, which has the two cut wires, is unplugged and not in view (it's in the palm of my hand). ALSO SOMETHING ELSE I noticed that I didn't catch earlier...the two wires coming out of the wiring harness are thinner. AND, the orange wire is actually orange with a black stripe. The light blue is solid light blue. They plug into a connector, where the wires become thicker and go to solid orange/solid blue. Really weird... | |

| Sorry about the delay, I got busy and kind of forgot until a couple of days ago … I have looked and figured it best to “show” you the wires instead of trying to explain them. I can’t say for certain what they do but I can tell you exactly where they go! On my ’95, which I am pretty much certain is unmolested, the wires you are looking at go into, or come from, depending on how you look at it, the very base of the battery connector itself. The first picture is taken from above the battery, looking down and slightly forward. Mainly just to show where the connector is. The second is taken from aft of the battery looking forward, it shows where the wires are taped to the main battery wire, runs along the main wire for an inch or so, and then terminates into the base of the battery terminal end. The third picture, again from aft of the battery looking forward, is a little better view of where the wires terminate into the battery terminal. I didn’t take the terminal apart to see exactly where the wires go but if you need me to I can see what I can do. Again, sorry about the delay, Hope this helps, | |

| albertj must've been right in saying that they were for the battery thermistor! I'm going to take the rear seat out in a bit and check that terminal. Thank you for the pictures! This was exactly what I was looking for! | |
