- So to be clear:
1) I'll need three of the smooth Dayco 89007, true? 2) I'll need one of the ribbed Gates 38009, true?
...that's it, correct? Current problem: I just replaced these 4 pullies on my 95 SC'd. The three Dayco pullies worked and fit fine. However, the plastic gates pulley (it is the one on the inside of the dual pulley stack...i.e. it's the supercharger idler) after installation, was not nearly as "free spinning" as the other three or even as the one I took off. I could spin it just fine on my finger before installation. Anyway, I uninstalled and reinstalled the pulleys a few different times to see if maybe something was hanging up. There was a spacer that went between the two pullies that was installed properly so I'm not sure what the problem is. With everything connected, I can move the pulley by hand but it definitely doesn't spin on its own. There seems to be a slight amount of drag. I put everything together and put a small white mark on the outside to see if it would spin with the engine on, and it did just fine. And no noise at all (that was the one causing my pulley squeal)...should I be concerned? What am I doing wrong? And it wasn't torqued down very much either.

| Okay, my car wasn't squealing at all for about 30ish miles or so but now the squealing is back even with all of those pullies being brand new. Argghhhh. | |

| Brand new, sounded fine when spun without belt. | |

| Just a note on the pulleys, some of them don't really free spin that easily depending on the bearing construction. If I recall, the steel Dayco and plastic Gates both dragged a little when spun by hand between my fingers. But that's normal.

| All of my S/C pullies except the motor mount one spin freely. They're tightened down quite a bit too. | |

| Its normal for some new bearings to be slightly tight depending on how they are packed at the factory. They tend to free up over time. I would just keep my eye on it and not worry to much. | |

| As for the belt squeal....check to make sure you aren't a rib off around the Crank pulley. The belt will fit right around the outside edge, and you'd never know it until it starts squealing. Also, if you can, pull over next time it starts squealing and spray water on the belt. If the noise goes away (even temporarily), it's the belt itself that's probably causing it.
Just a couple things to easily check....

| I have checked and double checked...belts are both on and aligned properly AND they are both brand new Gatorback belts. | |

| My car has been sitting for about a day, I started it and drove it a little bit ago. I did not hear a squeak until the car had warmed up a bit more, maybe after about 10-15 miles of driving. | |

| My forwardmost new pulley has started ticking and wobbling with only a few thousand on it. Sure didn't last long! | |
