| a good alarm is as good as the place you live it parked. But the specs on that alarm seem worth the money. I'd look into adding a digital camera to an alarm. This way, you get a picture of the 6@$†@®d. | |

| I definately like the remote start. I want one, just haven't made it that far down the list yet. If you live in an apartment, I would think you need the alarm. geeet it. | |

| Oh yeah looks good. You'll definitely like the remote start feature. I have that on my Riv, and a few other rides. One of the best features. I went with a Code Alarm for my RIv. Crimestoppers on my truck and Burb, and Python on my SS. I like the Crimestoppers the best. Next would be the Python followed by the Code Alarm.
Crimestoppers (of old, say 4 years ago) were very, very relieable. The Python works fine except for the fact it keep draining my remote battery in record time. The Code Alarm is good but the buttons have a tendencey to wear out quick making it hard to send the commands.
Good luck with your choice.

| Yes, you'll need to measure the resistance of the 'chip' in your ignition key and build a resistor to match it.
I am the only one I'll allow to work on my car. I installed two remote starters in different vehicles, then decided it was such a PITA I would pay somebody else the $200 to do my car. I won't install another one, it's a real sucky job IMO.

| Unless you just can't afford to, I really recommend paying a pro to do it. I haven't seen ANYONE who took on an installation w/o experience/knowledge, who said that they'd do it again. | |

| I have installed about 10 of them in several different cars and in every one of them something was wrong where it would not start. Go to www.the12volt.com if you have problems or ?'s. Good luck | |

| I just installed a Viper 160XV in my mom's Jeep over Christmas. It wasn't that bad but I wouldn't have done it without the factory service manual (find one online...) After my recent break-in I just purchased a Viper 790XV for myself - I'll be getting that on Tuesday and in it goes! I really didn't find the install to be that challenging but I am an Electrical Engineering student... so maybe this stuff is just another walk in the park in EE dork world... | |

Psychic... I've spent the last two days installing my Viper 791XV... and I'm still not done! The car cranks over, the fuel pump runs, but it doesn't start remotely. It runs fine with the key and I successfully performed a tachometer learn, but shutdown diagnostics indicate that there's no/low RPM's. My guess is that either the security system or PCM isn't getting power or is shutting the car down. I've bypassed the VATS system and tried a different tach wire but to no avail. A couple of sights including the12volt say that my 95 has a third ignition wire, but I can't find one. Funny thing is, my heater has power but there is no purple/white wire. There is a brown wire but that one is only hot in run/acc so I left it alone. http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?TID=50083 HELP!!! This Riviera job makes my mom's Jeep install look like a breeze!!! At least I have a cool beepy siren when I lock the doors now... makes me look like I'm driving an even more exotic car.
