PostSubject: Super charger ball bearing removal (M62)   Super charger ball bearing removal (M62) EmptyFri Feb 06, 2015 9:00 pm

While replacing my supercharger coupler i noticed a lot of play in the rotors when i removed them from the housing. Like wiggling back and forth when out of the housing. Im not sure but i dont think there is supposed to be any play in these things even when they are removed? My question is how do you access the ball bearings? Are the rotors pressed into the drive gears through the bearings? Ive seen a bunch of stuff on here about needle bearing removal in the rear but not much about ball bear bearing removal in the front....thanks

Changing the front pack bearings isn't something many people attempt, and even fewer succeed. The bearing set is pressed into the front plate and the rotor shafts are pressed into the gear set. Removing the bearing requires breaking the lip around it, and having success involves matching the timing perfectly when pressing the gears back on so you don't get chatter.(I believe Abaddon found out this when doing it on an m90.)

If the pack is bad hands down its easiest to find a used one and just swap it in. That said a little sideways movement when the pack is slid out is fine and is taken care of if you have good/new needle bearings for it to slide into on the case.

Yep! It's not that easy to do. The damn thing was noisier then what it was before. I ended up buying a brand new rotor plate/rotor pack to throw in it. I don't know if anyone sells them for the M62 though.

Are you sure it's not still the blower? Other than a couple idler pulleys, the SC belt doesn't turn anything else.

Lets remember that the series one has other things on the SC belt path other than the SC. I wish it was dedicated like the series 2, it would make 8 rib conversion much easier.
