| How hard is it to replace the intermediate shaft and does anyone know the part number?
Edit: Is this the correct part number 26044419? _________________ 1998 Supercharged Riviera - Custom CAI, Alpine spx-13ref, Infinity 6x9's, Alpine 4 Channel Amp, Kicker KX3, Silverstars, STB, Hawk Brake Pads, Monroe Air Shocks, KYB GR2

Edit: Is this the correct part number 26044419? It is NOT easy to do. The giant boot that goes from the bottom of the column to the top of the Steering Rack is the worst part. Technically, you're supposed to remove the Steering Column to do the job (because of that boot). If you aren't worried about the boot being in perfect condition (inside the car), just use a razor blade and split it far enough to get in there and remove the I-shaft pinch bolt. When re-installing, wrap some good weather tape around the boot to seal up the slice. Yes, the P/N is 26044419 Evan......

Evan...... Sounds like fun. So you just need to fight with the boots and then remove the bolts on both ends of the intermediate shaft and slide it into the car to remove it? I know it is important that the steering wheel doesn't move when the shaft is disconnected. Does the new shaft need to be greased before installing? _________________ 1998 Supercharged Riviera - Custom CAI, Alpine spx-13ref, Infinity 6x9's, Alpine 4 Channel Amp, Kicker KX3, Silverstars, STB, Hawk Brake Pads, Monroe Air Shocks, KYB GR2

| Fight with the boot is an understatement....it has metal reinforcement rings on it (inside the car). This is why "they" say to remove the steering column. It can be done without removing the column, but you're gonna get pissed lol.
Unbolt, slide out, slide in. Yep.
No greasing. Out the box, install.
May I ask why it is you're going to replace yours?

May I ask why it is you're going to replace yours? At times the steering feels like it has notches in it and it just doesn't feel good driving it. Almost like there is slop in it and not very responsive. Every time I turn the wheel I get a clunk that comes down from that area. _________________ 1998 Supercharged Riviera - Custom CAI, Alpine spx-13ref, Infinity 6x9's, Alpine 4 Channel Amp, Kicker KX3, Silverstars, STB, Hawk Brake Pads, Monroe Air Shocks, KYB GR2

That would be the I-shaft. Damn. That's a rare repair on a Riv. Sorry you have to be one of the few....
