PostSubject: computer and module question   computer and module question EmptyTue Jul 10, 2007 6:18 pm

im working on putting a 1995 series 1 supercharged 3.8 in my 2001 alero. i was wondering what modules the rivera have and what the numbers on the modules are for each module so i know which ones to grab. i already got the computer and ecm not sure what else i really will need. im thinking about just taking out the wiring harness out of the alero except what i need for the speedometer cluster wires. it seems pretty simple to grab the complete wiring harness and install it in my car except trying to figure out the speedometer and gauge hook up. the 3400 in my alero has to many problems to begin with some no comments about it please : tongue just to keep it simple for the interested coolant problems/overheating problems and needs new suspension good excuse to get by parents to install new engine. tongue tongue tongue

Honestly, you don't want a 3800 series 1. You'd be much better off with a series 2.

As for the PCM, the Riv's PCM is located inside the car, so if you want to use it in your swap, you almost have to re-wire the entire car.

Best bet would be a 3800 series 2 from a GTP, using a GTP harnass / PCM located under the hood.

the alero one is in the car too so it doesnt make a difference. anyways i already have the engine and trans complete got it for a deal that i couldnt pass up. series 1 are more all day long here. it was just a simple question of what modules do the 95 rivs have frown im thinking traction control module maybe abs then im not sure. i see like 3 or 4 modules right under the passenger dash/glovebox.

That should be the only one you need, everything else is for all the power options, security, etc. Ill try and get you the website, but there is a huge list of wiring harnesses, pcm pinouts and a bunch of other stuff, i think some for fiero swaps which is kinda what your gonna be lookin for. Its on my laptop i think so ill post it once i get home.
