What's the secret to stopping the trunk hinges from leaking on last gen Rivs??? What moron designs a structure that needs to be mounted by poking holes in the bottom of a water channel??????
I've tried several times and am open to ideas.

Prop the hood open, detach the hinges one at a time and coat underside with bathtub caulk (or RTV silicone gasket paste). Set back in place, wipe around base of hinge to get the excess. Seam sealer (or epoxy) at those seams near the hinge.

Actually it's very easy Yardley.
CAR COVERS
I've been using car covers always, and I don't have any leaks.
I'm covering my car with 4 car covers. This method/idea can fix your problem in 5 seconds plus they aren't expensive
I'm happy with the result, car is always dry and they're very easy to replace.
Good luck brother. smile

Get those car covers off when the wind blows or you will regret it. I know I do!

Yes. When the seasons change and the wind gets blowing good a car cover will scratch your paint. I'm still kicking my self over that one.

I meant to say " they scratch your paint " Haha but my phone always changes what I type.

Thanks for the advice, I'll see/ check the car tomorrow and will decide then.

I didn't get a scratch for months, then one big blow put scratches all over the car overnight. I thought it was safe, but it wasn't.

Thanx for the info. I'll inspect the car tomorrow, than see for myself. I'm using many layers of cover ( 4 covers) you think this way I'm giving the car some extra softness?

Unless the innermost cover is extra soft I doubt it will make a difference.

It's my driver so car covers are useless.
I've resealed several times. Still drips from the bottom of the bolts.
A piss poor design... drilling holes in a water channel then hoping to seal them afterward. Just stupid.

Sachco Through The Roof is the best product I've found for sealing water leaks. I've used it on metal roofing but it should work on those trunk hinge bolts too.
