| i cleaned the throttle body last night and replaced it. This morning when i went to drive, it started to smoke under the hood. I think there was coolant leaking onto exhaust. Anyone know what i might have done? Just looking for ideas before i go home and troubleshoot the problem.thanks. | |

| Usually light smoking is caused by something (oil, coolant, rubber/plastic) spilled onto the exhaust manifold or crossover pipe, which is directly below the TB. If it goes away, no worries. If it persists, you need to find out what's causing it.
See if you can spot where the smoke is coming from, and check the TB for leaking coolant. Perhaps you didn't seal it up and it's seeping from the bottom. Do you smell coolant? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| yes, i replaced the gasket w/ a new one.
i have NOT examined the source of the leak, but it does smell like coolant. does coolant flow thru the TB as well?

| I would think so. It does on the Series II supercharged. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| Yes it does on the series 1. Is it leaking out or is your engine ingesting coolant? | |

| update... when i checked it out, the wiring harness that connects to the airbox was unplugged. I had pulled it to clean my filter and forgot to plug it back in. I re-connected it and cleaned the smoky area (near exhaust and TB) and everything was fine afterwards. i'm not exactly sure what the issue was,but its resolved. thanks folks. | |
